Computer Recycling Be Green, Be Aware!
Any time you sell off, donate or recycle your used PC or laptop you leave yourself at risk of identity theft! Even if you thought you were being slick by formatting and reloading the hard drive with a "fresh Install" of the operating system, not so. The information is still there. You just need a couple of free programs to access it.
This is a problem that is an easy fix. Before recycling find out exactly how they plan to use your computer. Do they do a disk wipe using Standard U.S. DOD 522.22-m methods? Very important!
When DeStefano Computer Installations and Electrical accepts a computer for recycling we:
* Wipe all hard drives and send back a certification that this was done
* We use the standard U.S. DOD 5220.22-M
* Evaluate the computer for repair and or reprocessing into main stream outflow
* If reprocessed we will then refurbish it and make it available for sale to low income, needy families

If you Opt to recycle please mail your computer or if local call us to pick up we will then certify your hard drive wipe when its complete and reload fresh software
